Summer Concert Series at National Museum of the Marine Corps announced

June 30, 2016

(DUMFRIES, Va.) Ė The Marine Corps Heritage Foundation today announced the launch of its annual Summer Concert Series at the National Museum of the Marine Corps in Triangle, Va. Now in its seventh year, the series will feature three military bands performing American hits and patriotic classics, each in their own style.

The series kicks off July 6 at 7:00 p.m. with a performance from the United States Navy Bandís Country Current. As the Navyís premiere country-bluegrass ensemble, Country Current combines modern country music with cutting-edge bluegrass to produce an exciting and unique array of music. Country Current is nationally renowned for its highly entertaining performances, employing seven musicians from diverse backgrounds, each skilled on multiple instruments, such as the banjo, acoustic guitar, electric guitar, mandolin, fiddle, electric bass, upright bass, dobro, pedal steel guitar and drum set. The band has performed for the President, Vice President and senior military leaders.

On August 10, the National Museum of the Marine Corps will host the United States Navy Band Sea Chanters, followed by a performance by the Quantico Marine Corps Band on August 25. All three concerts in the series will be held outdoors on the grand entry plaza to the Museum. Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or picnic blankets. Concessions will be available, and the Museum, gift store and Tun Tavern will remain open until the concerts begin at 7:00 p.m. Admission and parking are free for all shows. Concerts will be held in the Museumís Leatherneck Gallery in case of inclement weather.
